Classes on offer
VDSE offers training in a wide variety of styles including Classical Ballet, National Character, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Lyrical, Contemporary Dance, Tap and Musical Theatre.

Generally Junior classes are for up to 10 yrs while Inter classes are for ages 10+, with some flexibility depending on preference and capability. If you aren't sure which grade is right for your child please contact us to discuss your options. We endeavour to bring out the best in each student, whether they are participating for fun, exercise or embarking on a professional career in dance.

Ready Set Dance!
Preschool (ages 2-5)

Ready Set Dance is a one-hour combo class of jazz, tap, hip hop, singing and music. Great for both boys and girls, it teaches dance fundamentals while developing confidence, coordination and creativity. Read more >>>

Classical Ballet

RAD primary/age 5+
Ballet provides the foundation for all other dance forms, it is the most demanding & disciplined of all, though the most rewarding. We follow the Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus & the Russian Vaganova Method.
Contemporary
Movement & Versatility

Contemporary dance focuses on movement and versatility, often using artistic or abstract choreography. Incorporating techniques from ballet, lyrical and jazz, it is an important genre in today's dance world

Performance
Troupe & Concert

Capable students may be invited to join our performance troupe to represent VDSE at Eisteddfods and community events. All students have the opportunity to perform in our end of year concert
Exams
RAD

While optional, we encourage our Ballet students to do exams each year through the Royal Academy of Dance. Students taking exams do extra holiday classes to ensure they are well prepared.

Available to students taking a minimum of 2 graded ballet classes per week

National Character
International Inspiration

National Character presents traditional dance styles from countries around the world. From Grade 1+ our students learn this genre to develop familiarity with this important part of classical ballet repertoire.
Vocational
Interfoundation - Advanced

VDSE offers vocational level ballet classes to supplement RAD grades 5 and above. These classes provide in depth ballet studies and prepare students for the vocational RAD exams (Intermediate Foundation to Advanced 2)
Available to experienced ballet students grade 5 +
Classes available Saturday 10am (junior) & Friday 4.30pm (intermediate)
Jazz
Technique & Style

A genre made famous by choreographers like Fosse and Reinking, Jazz classes teach power, technique, confidence and style. VDSE offers Jazz classes for junior and inter/senior level students.
Private Coaching
Aspire to Excellence

Private tuition is available for excelling students who would like to improve their ability on a one on one basis. While increasing their technical ability, students learn solo routines to perform at local and interstate Eisteddfods

Hip Hop
Funk, Hip Hop & Urban

A class of funk & hip hop moves, muscle isolations, dance combinations, improvisation and games.
VDSE offers Hip Hop classes for junior level (7-10 yrs) and intermediate level (10/11 yrs+).
Lyrical
Expressive & Emotional

Lyrical is an expressive, flowing style which is ballet based but has elements of contemporary and jazz. Lyrical is also known as 'modern expressive', and is based around feelings, emotion and interpretation of music.

Musical Theatre available Saturday 12.30pm
Tap
& Musical Theatre

These classes incorporate singing & acting, or the percussive element of tap shoes, with dance. Please see our timetable for available classes
Acro
Acrobatic Arts

Classes taught by qualified instructors that focus on building the correct strength, flexibility and endurance to safely perform acrobatics skills. A great way to learn body awareness as students advance in higher levels of dance training.

Stretch/Pilates
Flexibility & Conditioning

Recommended to all students ages 8 and up. Joining a stretch class is a great way to work on flexibility with friends & maintain commitment. Conditioning classes are shown to prevent injury and increase strength, flexibility and balance.
